Spoiler Free Star Wars Review: So, for the most part, it doesn’t matter if it is actually good or not, right? You’re either going to see it b/c you care about Star Wars, or you’re not b/c you don’t. But since this is a review; I’ll give it a thumbs up. As far as Star Wars movies go, it is probably the best. The people at Disney know what they are doing. It is their job to entertain, and the movie is entertaining. Best acting so far in the series and best special effects. It is the shallowest story though. Still more story than 80% of the movies you’re going to watch, but The Force Awakens actually feels like an episode rather than a complete movie. Which is one of the two problems, the other is the fan service. By fan service I mean call backs to the original movies. Something you recognize from the previous movies shows up like clockwork every 10 minutes. For hardcore fans this probably isn’t a problem, for the casuals it feels kinda forced. If you are completely unfamiliar with the back story then give The Force Awakens a pass, you won’t keep up. If you can do no more than name 6 or 8 main characters, and aren’t being asked to go by a fan, then wait until the DVD release. Otherwise, go see it. It is entertaining and it is a cultural touchstone, and can be appreciated as such.
